Description

Volcanic Ash is a finely divided mineral amendment thrown out by volcanic activity, prized for the same reason the soils around active volcanoes are some of the most fertile on earth. It carries a broad spectrum of minerals — silica, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and a long tail of trace elements — in a naturally slow-release form. Rather than feeding plants in a rush like a soluble fertiliser, it behaves like a mineral bank: water, root acids and soil microbes weather it down over months, releasing small amounts steadily and remineralising soils that compost and peat-based mixes often leave short.

Its very fine particle size is part of the appeal — it blends evenly through the root zone and puts a lot of mineral surface in contact with soil and biology. The high silica content helps stiffen cell walls, which growers tie to sturdier plants and better resistance to pests and disease, while the broader mineral load supports soil structure, aeration and cation exchange. It suits any long-cycle system — folded into a fresh mix, worked into beds, or added to a living-soil or no-till reset — anywhere you want durable mineral fertility rather than a quick hit.

Silica (Silicon), Iron, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, plus a broad spread of trace elements

Remineralises soil with slow-release silica and a broad trace-mineral spectrum, plus improves structure, cation exchange and plant resilience.

Mix or top-dress around 20–40 g per 5 L of soil and water in. A slow-release, broad-spectrum mineral remineraliser best added at mix-up. Start light and build up — ash mineral content varies by source — and reapply each cycle or when recharging used soil.

Soil people, same as you.

Soil Supply Co. started because we got sick of paying premiums for inputs that under-delivered. If we wouldn't put it in our own soil, it's not on the shelf.
