Description

Peanut Shell is an ultra-lightweight, airy mulch material that excels at maintaining soil aeration while steadily contributing carbon and a modest nitrogen feed as it breaks down. Its naturally open, irregular structure resists compaction and matting far better than denser mulch materials, allowing air and water to move freely through the mulch layer and into the soil beneath.

While primarily a carbon source, peanut shell carries a higher nitrogen content than most mulch materials, meaning it's less likely to cause nitrogen tie-up during decomposition — a common drawback with high-carbon, low-nitrogen mulches. The moderate breakdown rate sits between the fast-decomposing legume and sugar cane mulches and the slower rice hull and hemp stalk options, offering a balanced middle ground of lasting coverage and active soil feeding.

Protects the soil surface and retains moisture as a mulch, plus adds slow-release nitrogen as it breaks down.

Soil people, same as you.

Soil Supply Co. started because we got sick of paying premiums for inputs that under-delivered. If we wouldn't put it in our own soil, it's not on the shelf.
